Mobile side scroller game - White Walls

For this project, I had to create a side-scroller game. Where I had to use Unreal Engine 4  build an interactive game. The game had to consist two gameplay mechanics and well-textured environment. The end goal was to have the game run on a mobile platform like a table and phone at a consistent framerate.

Week 1

In class, we were given the brief to create a mobile game although it had to be a side-scroller example. I had to had to come up with three concepts and present three different artboards/art bibles. The ideas did not flow as well as I wanted to.

Art bibles do help greatly put me on the right path. I wanted ideas that would go well with the gameplay of the side-scroller template and in a way that I can both technical also the art side.

The first idea I had was a jungle. A jungle that was going to be very stylistic and low poly.

the player would be running from tree to tree and over bridges and avoid obstacles.

I wanted to do something unique with gameplay. I do think that there is potential for really interesting mechanics although there was not much originality in the idea and I wanted to go a moody and somewhat complex game design that is mixed with a consistent art style.

Lighting and atmosphere

For the atmosphere, I want a warm tone making the player feel like there is a journey.
